- Tego, DataMaker works great for me for TV Shows. However, for movies it requires to create a separate folder for each movie, which is not the way I (and most ATV users, I think) organize their collections. Any chance of adding an option to grab data for movies based on file name rather than folder name? --[[User:Drag0n|Drag0n]] 23:57, 20 April 2008 (CEST)

Sounds cool - how do you install this? It is a stand-alone OS X application...--Tego 12:45, 16 April 2008 (CEST)

Any chance of adopting Datamaker to run on the AppleTV itself (preferably as a plugin)? I believe that PHP can be installed on the ATV - as described here: XAMMP_-_Apache/MySQL/PHP5/Perl It is far easier to develop as it is know. Thing is, I don't know Objective-C. The current app is just an amateur job, with some bits of PHP and AppleScript merged together thanks to InterfaceBuilder. What I do is mount the appleTV on my Mac using MacFusion, so I have full access to my Movies directory, as well as to my external disks on the appleTV (through symlinks). But the code is free, so if someone wants to try to make a new plugin for the aTV with parts of my code, feel free! --Tego 16:16, 16 April 2008 (CEST)

I use AFP to copy files over from my Mac to my ATV - but I am still using WinSCP to copy files over from my PC to the ATV - I have to install SMB or something to mount the ATV and copy files directly (WinSCP does not take full advantage of the Gigabit connection between the PC and the ATV, and I don't know why).

This app sounds handy, but my coder friend claims PHP is messy, and if this is an amateur job, I'll stick with the version we're building in ruby.

- There is not much of a difference between the cleanlyness of code in PHP or Ruby; all depends on the programmer. --Tego 07:06, 18 April 2008 (CEST)

I would love to see this as a plug-in, some automatic downloading of cover art and updating the ATV whenever a new file is added - would be sweet!

Thanks to everyone who contributes! You are all awesome!
