There are different patchstick versions for The AppleTV:

  • atvusb-creator is a Google code project enabling SSH and allowing to install some programs
  • aTV Flash is a commercial product featuring lots of software

atvusb-creator

atvusb-creator allows to install the following binaries:

  • SSH tools
  • bin utils

and the following menu items:

  • SoftwareMenus
  • XBMC/Boxee

aTV Flash

aTV Flash installs the following binaries:

  • FTP, SFTP and SSH
  • USB support
  • Perian audio and video codecs
  • Robust keyboard support (Keyboard Magic)
  • AirControl, for the Loop™ Pointer from Hillcrest Labs

and the following menu items:

  • NitoTV
  • Couch Surfer Pro
